Being named a best place to work can skyrocket your hiring and retention rates

Being named by your local business journal, newspaper or another media outlet as a “Best Place to Work” bumps your organization’s attractiveness rating to potential new recruits to a whole new level. Every employer wants the distinction, but few understand what it really takes to become a place where the best employees flock to and stay.

Many people in the United States spend the majority of their time working. Our offices start to feel like home and our coworkers become as close as family.  The culture and mission become the common bond that brings everyone together. When strong, it doesn’t guarantee the organization will succeed. But without it, I’d argue the organization is at real risk.

You’ll never win a “Best Place to Work” honor by offering only bells and whistles.

Rather, it starts with hiring the right people in the first place and then retaining them that positions your organization as the place where everyone wants to work. We’ve long understood that offering more money or additional time off is a short-term retention tactic. And sure, Google offers employees dreamy workspaces, but it’s the competitive and collaborative culture that drives strong retention.

To attract and keep top candidates, employers must create a process for hiring employees who are in alignment with the mission and culture, who will feel valued and who will know they’re performing well at their jobs.

Make crucial hiring decisions based on data, not impressions.

That’s how the PXT Select™ can become your greatest ally, and it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Pre-hire assessments make gathering actionable data easy. It helps you match the right employee with the right skills, behaviors and interests to the right job. And it starts with developing a benchmark that you can rank every candidate’s thinking styles, behaviors and interests against. Why is this so important? Because not only do you need employees who perform well, but you need employees who will support your strong culture, not diminish it.

As we ready our companies for a new year, now is a great time to learn how you can revolutionize your hiring process. Watch the video below and learn how the PXT Select™ can increase your retention rate to new levels in 2018.
